About Us

Spark Lab Cymru was born from a shared passion for making science exciting, accessible, and hands-on. Co-founders Rhian and Mel first met studying Chemistry at Cardiff University, where their love of experiments and all things science quickly formed a lasting friendship.

After graduating, both went on to become secondary school science teachers, spending years inspiring young people in classrooms across Wales. Through their teaching careers they saw first-hand how powerful hands-on, experiential learning could be — and how many children were missing out on those wow-factor moments that spark a lifelong love of science.

Driven by a desire to reach even more children beyond the classroom, Rhian and Mel combined their expertise, energy, and endless enthusiasm to launch Spark Lab Cymru. Together, they deliver high-energy science workshops for children aged 4–18, bringing the excitement of real experiments to schools, holiday clubs, community groups, and events right across Wales.

Their mission is simple: every child deserves to experience the thrill of science. Whether it's erupting volcanoes, launching rockets, or making slime, Rhian and Mel make sure every session is packed with fun, learning, and unforgettable memories.
